NAME: Dakki Sigal
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV (Warrior of Light OC)
CANON POINT: Stormblood Patch 4.5 Part 2
AGE: 20
BACKGROUND:
Dakki is the child of an Ul'dahn merchant and a former Gridanian Wood Wailer. Her mother was forced to leave the Twelveswood after falling out of favor with the Elementals, and she met her future husband when hired on to help escort his caravan. They established a household in a community near the Golden Bazaar, to have a stable place to raise their daughter. Dakki was raised in relative comfort, taught her letters, and doted upon. Her father hoped she would take over the family's business interests once she was of proper age.
She was 12 when the Calamity came. Both of her parents died, and her home was completely destroyed. With nowhere else to go, she sought refuge in Ul'dah. As luck would have it one of her father's business contacts, a Roegadyn woodworker and carpenter, took pity on her and took her on as an apprentice. He was demanding and very difficult to please, but he provided a roof over her head and more than enough to eat. She didn't have much natural talent for carpentry, but was a diligent worker. Between handling newly-made wands and speaking with various conjurers that came in to make purchases, it was found that she had a talent for conjury, herself. At 17, with a new wand and ticket paid for by the old Roegadyn, she set out for Gridania to obtain proper training.
And then her Echo manifested on the journey, and she crossed paths with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn...

Stormblood story
Dakki has completed the Conjurer and White Mage quests, making her the successor of the great Padjali White Mage A-Towa-Cant and a practitioner of White Magic.
After her name was cleared in early Heavensward, she returned to Ul'dah and stumbled into helping an old Samurai. She took a job stone and equipment from him only intending to temporarily help, and was surprised to find that she wasn't half bad with a katana.
She has dabbled in carpentry and botany throughout her travels, and spent some time studying the culinary arts in Limsa Lominsa.
When given the chance to join one of Eorzea's Grand Companies, she chose the Immortal Flames of Ul'dah.
While waiting for more news on the device at the Crystal Tower that will open the way to finding her friends, she has been spending most of her time in Doma and Kugane. She has been particularly focused on the rebuilding of the Doman Enclave, and in the Ivalice-related investigations lead by Jenomis cen Lexentale.
PERSONALITY:
Dakki's outward personality is kind and optimistic. She is always eager to help others, and enjoys solving problems and cleaning up messes. The life of an adventurer pleases her, for it gives her the chance to help many others and to come to know many people. She's a person of few words, but when she does speak, she's plainspoken and straightforward. She doesn't care to sit still or be idle, and is always looking for a chance to lend a hand or learn something new. If this puts her all up in everyone else's business, so be it. She has an idealistic streak a mile wide, and a burning desire to make the world a better place. Having lived through the Calamity and having spent years in relative poverty in Ul'dah, she knows what it is to suffer and knows that she wants to ease the suffering of others however she can.
Beneath her generally confident appearance is a rippling thread of anxiousness. Though she has grown into herself and found certainty in her abilities and place in life over the last few years of adventuring, there is a part of her that is still young and inexperienced and unsure. She is at her best when on the battlefield or toiling away at some important task. In social situations she is considerably more lost, never quite sure what to say or how to handle herself. She is especially hopeless when it comes to matters of the heart, and mostly just tends towards keeping her mouth shut and holding her feelings inside. On the whole, she will lean on her friends to do the talking and thinking for her. Taking orders is far easier than giving them, and her role in the Scions of the Seventh Dawn is to fight, not to spout wisdom and rattle off facts.
Fundamentally, Dakki is a person that wants to please others and wants to be accepted. Her parents had always praised her most for the things that she was good at, and her master in Ul'dah only demonstrated something approaching caring when her tasks were completed perfectly and she caused no trouble. On a bone-deep level, she associates working hard for someone and tending to someone's needs as the way that you go about founding friendships and creating security. She has come to wonder, in moments of doubt, if this drive to help and comply is part of why Hydaelin has chosen her. Others have disparagingly called her an obedient puppet, and she cannot quite shrug off the insult. The thought of being anything but helpful and compliant makes her uncomfortable, however. So much of her sense of self is tied up in the idea of helping others and putting them before her that it simply seems morally wrong to be otherwise.
The matter of being "The Warrior of Light" is something that she has mixed feelings about, which also ties in to the above. She is proud of her accomplishments and glad to bear the title if it means it puts her in a position to help others... but she also finds that it isolates her from other people at the same time. She has noticed that people often see her for what she can do for them, not what she is. She is glad enough to do those things, and to put herself forward to help where no one else can, but she finds the fame that comes with her reputation somewhat isolating. She treasures her few friends that know her as herself, and not some larger-than-life heroine.
She has an ambivalent relationship towards engaging in direct combat, as well, in the wake of her encounter with Zenos yae Galvus at the Ala Mhigan Royal Menagerie. She had clashed against him time and again with the katana skills taught to her by Musosai and the Samurai job stone, each time improving in skill but not quite besting him... and found herself enjoying the challenge of it in a way that was quite different from the satisfaction she took in healing and protecting others. When Zenos claimed that she was a creature of violence just like him, the accusation was so sickening that she sheathed her katana and took up her staff almost permanently from there on. Little by little, she's coming to terms with it and learning that Zenos's words ought to be disregarded... but she's still not entirely comfortable going full-out in combat with a blade.
Whatever worries she may have deep down, she doesn't let them show on the surface. They don't gnaw on her constantly, and she isn't one to dwell overlong on the negative. She's a woman of action, and will either immediately set out to find an answer to whatever is bothering her... or immerse herself in work to the point that she has no time to fret or fuss. And for all that the world is full of dangers and the expectations of others weigh on her shoulders, she feels that her shoulders can bear that weight with ease. The world is full of wonders, and she considers herself infinitely fortunate to have gotten to see so many of them.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
White Magic - Dakki is a White Mage of considerable talent, capable of powerful healing and defensive spells as well as manipulating the elements of earth, wind, and water for offensive uses. Requires a wooden wand or staff as a focus.
Samurai training - She has trained as a Samurai in the Hingan style, though she is more a capable swordswoman than an excellent one. (It's not her primary job.) Her strikes are aetherically-enhanced, making for flashy effects and speedy slashes.
Carpentry - For all that she claims to not be that talented at it, Dakki is a fairly capable woodworker. She has built her own furniture, crafted equipment for herself and others, and knows her way around a saw and awl.
The Echo - A special ability that few from her world possess, the Echo primarily lets Dakki understand any spoken language, and allows her to occasionally

CANON UPDATE - 2019-08-10
The things that happen, in point form with a minimum of spoilers:
Dakki travels to another world, The First AKA Norvrandt, and proceeds to meet back up with her missing/comatose Scion friends who were taken there.
Via information from the mysterious Crystal Exarch, she learns about the Sin Eaters, the Flood of Light, and basically all the problems this place of eternal menacing daylight has. She also learns that she can see the ghost of Ardbert, that world's long-dead Warrior of Light. They talk. A bunch.
With the help of her friends she defeats the Lightwarden of Lakeland, and absorbs its light into herself. Doing so banishes the eternal light, and returns the night sky to the region.
Now knowing that this is an option for saving The First, she proceeds to travel around this new world with her friends, reconnecting with them, and slaying and absorbing each region's Lightwarden, returning night to the world. Talk spreads about how The Warrior of Darkness is going about, here to save everyone.
As they do this, they are harried by the forces of Eulmore, a nation that wishes to give everyone peace and comfort in this dying world, believing that there is no possible way to undo it. Her actions are a threat to their goals.
Also, for some reason an Ascian by the name of Emet-Selch starts following her and the Scions around on their mission, determined to "be helpful", while also plainly having another agenda. He provides a lot of really useful metaphysical exposition. And drama.
There's also a whole bunch of stuff with a girl that's a re-re-re-reincarnation of Minfilia, who has to choose if she will stay her own self or let Minfilia incarnate in her, and it's all very touching and important.
By the time Dakki absorbs the second to last Lightwarden, her body is starting to give under the strain. On she goes anyway. Upon defeating and absorbing the last one, she collapses, and quite nearly transforms into a Sin Eater, herself. Emet-Selch gloats, wounds and captures the Crystal Exarch, and retreats. Her friends manage to stabilize her, at least for the moment.
Then she heads to the final zone where Emet-Selch awaits, gets a huge dump of devastating backstory, learns about her soul's distant past and who/what some of the pieces of it are, then merges with Ardbert and beats the heck out of the final boss. The day is saved, friends are reunited, and she nips back to The Source to check in with the Scions there and maybe get her haircut touched up.
And also she has started working on the investigation into The Empty on the First and possibly restoring things via the power of Eden, the strange being found out in the middle of it.
Physically, Dakki will be returning having aged several months, and is now 21 years old. She'll have cut her hair short, and she'll be a bit more visibly well-muscled and strong as she had focused on Samurai as her primary job.
Emotionally, Dakki will be a little more mature and confident. Her journey to the first gave her some closure on some long-unaddressed feelings about Thancred, and she saw a lot of herself in Minfilia/Ryne. Watching the two of them work through their complicated relationship gave her a perspective that has helped her understand her younger self, and understand where she wants her current self to go from here. She also reconnected closely with her Scion friends (and an old friend from an expedition years ago...) and learned just how much that they all care for her, not just rely on her and her power. She was supported, not simply everyone's support. And she has learned that heroism is not just about taking on every task yourself, but helping to inspire others to find the heroism inside of them. The weight of her duty as the Warrior of Light and Darkness does not weigh on her quite as heavily as it did before.
Metaphysically, Dakki's soul has been rejoined with Ardbert's. This leaves her "stronger" in some nebulous way, and more "complete" in some other nebulous way. From what she understands from Emet-Selch's information and revelations, she wonders if she might be tempered by Hydaelin... but mostly doesn't stop to worry about it because she's real good at repressing that stuff.
Powers-wise, Dakki mained Samurai and White Mage throughout her journey on The First. Upon returning to The Source, she returned to Ul'dah and resumed her study of Thaumaturgy, then proceeded on to become a Black Mage, in an effort to better educate herself to help out with some tasks back on The First. She's 80 in SAM and WHM, and 70 in BLM. Her White Mage powers are basically More Heals and More Light, her Samurai skill improvement is More Swords, and Black Mage is More Explosions.
Items-wise, I'd like to swap out her Yama Katana and Samurai armor for her new Eden Samurai gear, and have her come back with a Black Mage job stone, but none of her equipment for it. (She'll use the Ware Wolf shop to get a staff and stuff later.)
